Banquet Fundraiser

On February 14, 2015 while taking part in the 24 Hour Numb Bum Ice Race, Troy sustained a severe injury from a single motorcycle accident. After being treated on the ice by EMT's, he was then transported by STARS Air Ambulance to the U of A hospital where he later passed away. Troy left us doing what he loved...he was leading the race and will always remain first place in our hearts.

Troy leaves behind his wife Carolyn and daughters Alisha and Sarah. The funds raised at the Troy Ritchie Family Fundraiser Benefit and Silent Auction will benefit his family and help them through this difficult time.

In addition to assisting the Ritchie family through this time of loss, we will be supporting STARS Air Ambulance as Troy was air lifted to the U of A. STARS offers time, hope and life-saving transport to critically ill and injured patients.

"We can wear the right equipment and plan to be as safe as possible but things can go wrong. If it were a perfect world we wouldn't need STARS." Sean Craigen

2015 Schedule

Grand Prairie March 1st Race Update

Due to the tragic accident last weekend and the unavailability of Refs for this event the AEIRA will not be able to run a full race this upcoming weekend in GP.

However we still would encourage everyone to check out and attend the separate event that Jarrett is running. There will be a full line up for Cars, Bikes, and UTVs. The bike event will be a time attack format. If you are interesting in doing a bit of riding in honor of Troy there will be a fundraising aspect to this event for Troy. For all details please contact Jarrett King or visit the Studs on Ice 5 Facebook Event page.

This was obviously a difficult season for all for all of us to go through. Our thoughts first and foremost are all still with Troy's family. We want to thank everyone for the generous donations made so far. We are continuing to look into some further fundraising options and will have more details for you soon.

Numb Bum 24 2015 Update

Numb Bum 24 was canceled by a unanimous decision of the PDRA and AEIRA due to a very severe single motorcycle accident. The Rider was attended to by EMT personnel within minutes and transported to the hospital by stars air ambulance. On February 15th the PDRA announced that Troy Richie had passed away in the hospital. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, teammates and the whole ice racing community. The PDRA and AEIRA will do what we can to support the Richie family and we have been working since the accident to raise funds for the family. The PDRA has worked hard setting up a trust for the family.

- A fund has been set up for Troy's Family through GoFundme as an easy way for those in the community that would like to donate in the wake of their loss. http://www.gofundme.com/RitchieFamily

- For those who would prefer to donate through their bank to a trust account has been set up through ATB financial, to donate you can go into any ATB Financial Branch and make a donation to the account "In Trust for Troy Richie"

The race was stopped before 50% of the laps were completed so with that in mind no race results will be posted.
